Various pioneers and experts have defined Artificial Intelligence in distinct ways:
John McCarthy: A pioneer in the field, McCarthy coined the term and developed the LISP programming language. He defined AI as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs, without being limited to biologically observable methods."
Stuart Russell and Peter Norvig: In their book "Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach," Russell and Norvig describe AI as "the study of agents that perceive the environment and take actions."
Marvin Minsky: Co-founder of the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Minsky defines it as "the science of making machines do things that would require intelligence if done by humans."
Elaine Rich and Kevin Knight: They conceive AI as "the study of how to make computers do things that humans currently do better."

1952: Arthur Samuel developed software capable of learning to play chess autonomously.

Types of Artificial Intelligence
